Barnsley Youth Choir Children’s Choir Central
Waving so many of our Children’s Choir members off and sending them up to Intermediate Choir
at the beginning of the term was
a tough thing to do... but it was definitely the right decision –
they look so at home there! And I must admit, it was a great comfort to know that so many Junior Choir members were ready to move up.
I would say that about 75% of Children’s Choir members are making their concert debut this Christmas in this choir. I have absolutely
no doubt that they will pull it off, however.
The Christmas concerts are always special
ones and this one in particular will be one to remember, after the past 18 months. It has been wonderful to be back to normal rehearsals, and our new members have slotted in perfectly. Already there is a real discipline to the choir and a strong sense that they are part of something very special. A major contributing factor to this feeling is the Children’s Choir musical team of Gareth, Michelle and Fiona who constantly strive for quality and push for the best. We have also been joined by Zoe, one of the hugely talented members of the Senior Choir, as musical assistant. We are so lucky to have this additional expertise and someone for the children to really look up to and aspire to be like.
This evening we would like to entertain you with a couple of old classic Christmas songs but we would also like to share with you a song new to the repertoire, Don’t Need the Sun to Shine.
We cannot wait to get up on that stage!
