Barnsley Youth Choir Children’s Choir East
The East Choir were so happy to return to their main rehearsal venue, The Dearne ALC, in September after a long time away. We had a modest number
of members attend rehearsals
to begin with but soon, word clearly got out that the ‘Beasts
of the East’ were back in town and numbers increased with each passing week!
The choir have welcomed quite a few new members and we have had fun teaching them the Kodaly hand-signs and classic East anthems such as ‘Mango’ and ‘Emalama’. They have all got real enthusiasm for singing and I can’t wait to perform with them today. We are singing Rockin’ Robin and also Colours of the Wind, a song we had rehearsed before the pandemic and have brought back to share with you today.
The choir also welcomed a new Assistant Musical Director to their ranks this year. Tom Masters has been brilliant in inspiring and working with our members and he has fitted right in with how we do things at East. Thank you for your great work so far!
A big thank you to the volunteer team led expertly by Lee and also to Helen Madden for her piano playing and arranging skills.
Finally thank you to you, the audience, for coming to support the BYC choirs today. Please keep spreading the word about the choirs as we can always welcome more children to join us in the choir. We hope you enjoy what we have to offer!
