ARTISTIC PROGRAMME
DEVELOP, PERFORM AND CONNECT
DEVELOPING OUR SINGERS & LEADERS
BYC invests in providing diverse opportunities for our singers and leaders to develop.
This takes many forms and we are committed to continually growing and developing.
All of the Music Team members will be offered a tailored programme of support, with access to courses led by international experts in Choral Leadership and Conducting. This world class training will be extended to the local and wider communities to ensure that the impact of this facility is felt nationally.
We recognise that young people will benefit directly from new skills that music leaders develop, and we will proactively create pathways for older choir members to gain training and experience to support career opportunities in the creative industries.
AMBITIOUS, INCLUSIVE & DYNAMIC
PRIMARY SCHOOL PARTNERSHIPS
Our Primary School Partnership currently involves over 50 schools in the borough and over 3000 children. We will continue to develop and expand this programme with a focus on areas with low cultural provision and engagement.
WIDENING ENGAGEMENT
We will engage with more young people
in the borough and seek to support other organisations beyond Barnsley. We will develop and expand our volunteer teams and provide them with opportunities to gain training and accreditation. We will also seek to engage with other groups within Barnsley, such as adult groups like Barnsley Singers and 0-4 provision like Little Singers, to provide opportunities beyond the youth sector. We will also seek to support vulnerable groups and engage with organisations such as the Alzheimer’s Society.
PRESENTING WORLD-CLASS CULTURAL PERFORMANCES
BYC will continue to present world-class concerts, performances and events both at home in Barnsley, nationally (such as tours to London and to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival), and internationally (such as international visits to represent Great Britain in competitions such as the World Choir Games, and cultural exchanges with exceptional international partners in Sweden, South Africa and Hungary)
CULTURAL EXCHANGES WITH INTERNATIONALLY RENOWNED ARTISTS & SINGERS
We are fortunate to be involved in a number
of international networks and learn from outstanding colleagues. BYC will continue to seek new world-class partners, particularly those from diverse cultural backgrounds, to inspire and educate our members and workforce.
BESPOKE FACILITIES & DELIVERY FOR PEOPLE WITH ADDITIONAL NEEDS
The Nave has been designed to be truly inclusive, with spaces and facilities which enables BYC to provide high quality, appropriate experiences
for young people with additional needs.
We will form new partnerships with experts and organisations in the field of inclusive arts practice to create bespoke opportunities for both young people and older members of the community who have additional physical and mental health needs.
