Children’s Choir Central has grown to epic proportions during the course of this year, to the point where we are almost spilling out of the rehearsal room on a weekly basis!
Frankly, I am not complaining – it is an absolute joy to behold! We decided, after the disruption of the past few years, to let children audition when they got in touch, so we have been auditioning on almost a weekly basis. You will gain an insight into the scale of this when you see all three Children’s Choirs together on stage at this special concert – there won’t be much breathing room! We are absolutely delighted to be sharing the stage with Tuks Camerata. A few of the
older members took part in the workshop with Michael Barrett in 2018 and remember vividly what an enriching learning experience it was.
On a personal note, I have never learnt more from a workshop before or since, and I still quote Michael regularly.

Thursday 5.45pm – 7.30pm Barnsley Sixth Form College
In fact, we still sing The Blessing as our ‘goodbye’ song every week, (a song he introduced to us), using it as an opportunity for reflection. The Children’s Choir team remains solid and psychically linked, working together like clockwork! The children gain such a wonderful experience, working with Michelle, Fiona, Zoe, Gareth and Jacob (our mentor from the Senior Choir who has a wonderful rapport with the children and is definitely going to be a teacher!). We are delighted to be performing three classic pieces for you today, and cannot wait to perform with both Tuks Camerata and the Intermediate Choir.
