After a busy and rewarding term, we are delighted to share with you the fruits of our labour. Realistically, though, the fun we have on a Thursday could never be called ‘labour’.
We always manage to find the fun in anything; yet the children are still focussed, passionate and striving for the best when they need to be! It is a joy! After 14 years of leading Children’s Choir, Thursday nights are still the highlight of my week. This is largely down to, not only the wonderful children, but the team of leaders we are blessed with. The mentors certainly enhance what we do and rise to every challenge they
are offered. Our assistant MDs are completely indispensable. Fiona, who has been with us for 10 years (and whose 6 year old daughter
is now a member!) will feature in this concert with her brilliant arrangement of The Cover is not the Book. We are also bringing out an old classic; Jabalani. We hope that the extensive work we have done with Tuks Camerata from South Africa over recent years will ensure a more authentic performance! We are very
excited that soon we will be working with another choir from South Africa; Tygerberg Children’s Choir. This choir, a similar age to our Children’s Choir, and ranked fourth in the world, will give us a glimpse of what is possible and we are delighted to be given this invaluable opportunity. Aya Ngena, another African
piece that all of the Children’s Choirs will be performing together, is a piece introduced to us by the Aurin Choir, a choir that will also be visiting this year. We are so lucky to be inspired by so many incredible groups.
