BARNSLEY YOUTH CHOIR TOUR DUBLIN 2023
We were delighted to accept an invitation from Lynsey Callaghan and Brian Murphy to undertake a mini-tour of Dublin during the February half term in 2023. The tour would comprise of around 80 Members of the Senior Choir and 20 adults who would travel to Ireland’s beautiful capital city
of the tour. Day 2 was spent rehearsing in the morning and travelling to the beautiful venue of 1 Windmill Lane for our afternoon concert. The venue is famous for hosting music giants such as U2, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran, The Cranberries, Kate Bush, Def Leppard, ACDC, Steve Winwood and

to spend 5 days working and performing with Dublin Youth Choir.
There was one catch.... 7 weeks to pull together a touring party of 100 (Adult Volunteers and Choir Members), sort out accommodation over 3 sites, arrange ferry crossings and 2 coaches, gather passport details, food orders, technical equipment, Band equipment... the list goes on and the challenge was accepted!
After a smooth crossing and successful arrival in Dublin, BYC set to work on our first rehearsal of the tour that evening. Despite the travelling, the choir was already in fine voice for the beginning
many, many more artists to record some of their most famous albums. BYC was very well received and we were delighted to see members of DYC
in the audience for the afternoon concert. We are really grateful to 1 Windmill Lane for allowing us to perform here during our visit - it’s an experience we’ll never forget.
A very well-informed tour of Dublin city by Lynsey and Brian then took place. The evening gave
our choirs the opportunity to meet in full for the first time at DYC’s regular rehearsal venue and a joint rehearsal. It was clear from this point that a wonderful friendship had formed immediately
