and the choirs sounded excellent! Afterwards both BYC and DYC were able to spend time socialising in groups and getting to know each other.
Day 3 offered the youngest members of DYC
the chance to work with BYC throughout the day. Members as young as 7 sang really bravely alongside their new friends from the UK - one DYC Member had turned up for their 1st rehearsal that day! It was such a joy to be able to see BYC
choirs could get some quality preparation time before the evening’s planned concert. Trinity College Chapel was our destination that evening, a beautiful and prestigious setting at the heart of Dublin where only a handful of performers are granted access to perform at the Chapel each year. Word had spread regarding the concert and we had soon amassed a full audience - the capacity was just 300. DYC and BYC brought something very special that evening and both
inspiring the next generation of DYC singers and to witness BYC members helping them all and reading music together. A fabulous traditional Irish ceili (the Irish spelling) at 1 Windmill Lane run by DYC members rounded off the day brilliantly! It was a wonderful spectacle – 170 young people all attempting the steps with massive smiles on their faces!
We headed out on Day 4 to a school on the coast of Ireland - a beautiful setting in which both
choirs sang magnificently. We’re really grateful for all the support we received from parents and carers in preparation for our trip and we’re really proud of BYC members for being brilliant ambassadors for the Choir, for Barnsley and for Great Britain.
