 Welcome
to a really exciting weekend. We are thrilled
to welcome members from the Adolf Fredriks School to Barnsley. This visit follows a trip by BYC to Stockholm, Sweden earlier this year when we visited the music school that is renowned throughout the world. Our young people took part in a number of concerts
in Stockholm in some breathtaking venues across the city. BYC members also had an opportunity to take part in some classes at the school, which offered a valuable insight.

me. We instantly struck up a friendship and both recognised the potential for working closely together in the future. Tony is a fantastic conductor and musician. He is also
a fabulous teacher and has a very positive and calm approach to the way he encourages and nurtures young people. He is a great character; full of joy, enthusiasm and passion for what he does and has an unrelenting focus on quality.
What was particularly pleasing was the way in which Barnsley and Stockholm children bonded. There was a joint concert in the magnificent Saint James’s Church where we sang a number of joint pieces including Total Praise, Just Can’t Give Up Now (which we will perform together this weekend) and a beautiful Swedish folksong, Sommerpsalm.

There are a number of opportunities to see the choir this weekend. They have a busy but exciting schedule. On Friday 2nd December they will take a workshop with 400 primary school children aged 8-10 yrs at Horizon CC. They will visit the Mayor at the Town Hall and spend time in Experience Barnsley before making their way to Emmanuel Church for
a special concert on their own at 7.00pm. Saturday 3rd December is perhaps their
